"We build our classrooms one student at a time."
Journeys Academy is a private school for learning challenged, special needs, and regular education students. At Journeys Academy, we design a learning environment that prepares students for life's challenges and independent functioning in our ever changing complex society. We build our classrooms one student at a time, carefully matching the learning profiles of each student.
Journeys is specifically designed to provide individualized education programs for students with ADHD, giftedness, executive function, deficits, Downs Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Asperger's, output disorders, Tourette's and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Art has also arrived at Journeys this year. Jan Christopher is the latest high energy story at Journeys. Jan has hit the ground running, taking on the school with Art classes every Wednesday. She leads a comprehensive art program that teaches the kids a variety of arts. Each week Jan takes on a new artist and style and not only shows the students how the art is done, but provides history and examples. Students are exposed to quilting, texture painting and a variety of arts not seen before at Journeys. |

The field trips this year have been fascinatingly fantastic! We will have three lower school trips to the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre to see High School Musical, Pinocchio Christmas and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The upper school has done an extensive study of the Holocaust and spent two days at the Holocaust Museum, followed by a visit to Journeys from a Holocaust survivor. Various state park trips are planned to enable students to be able to obtain their Junior Ranger Certification. Not to mention the fire department, humane society and more. |

Technology is Everywhere

Wow! Technolgy has certainly arrived at Journeys. We now have a complete lab of computers, all with 19" flat screen monitors, wireless "soft-touch"
keyboards and wireless networking. Every classroom also has not one, but three complete computer systems, all with 19" flat screen monitors to allow the teachers to provide hands on typing and to teach other computer skills to their students. Teachers all have a laptop and a 22" inch monitor to allow video teaching to take place in every classroom. Technology is definitely happening at Journeys! |
